The only Italian thing about Carla dal Forno is her name. Born and raised in Australia, she began making music in 2010 with various groups – Mole House, F Ingers and Tarcar – before embarking on a solo career defined by ethereal records suspended in time, resistant to any fixed characterisation. Her songs trace landscapes, both sonic and mental, that will feel deeply familiar to anyone whose relationship with life has gone beyond a passing acquaintance, though very few have ever found the words to describe them. The title of her latest album is particularly telling: Confession. The difference is that, afterwards, we are the ones who feel better.
