From its very title – Exuvie – the third album by Franco-Swiss composer and multimedia artist Noémi Büchi explores the tension between matter and memory: from the physical shell discarded after metamorphosis, to the reverberation of memories from a previous incarnation and the uncertainty of the future that follows transformation. Across eleven movements spanning electroacoustics, transfigured techno, abrasive ambient, glacial synth gusts and unexpected rhythmic assaults, the soundtrack to a cyberpunk film takes shape, its images generating spontaneously inside our minds.
