A cornerstone of Berlin label Toy Tonics, where he is both a leading name and a regular presence at the Jams they take around the world, Sam Ruffillo has rightly been described as an “architect of groove”. A producer with a distinctive touch spanning Italo disco, ’90s house and old-school funk, and the author of major remixes from day one – for Franz Ferdinand, Fatboy Slim and Crookers among others – he has become one of the most recognisable ambassadors of Italian style abroad. Even the name he chose for himself offers a way of putting Bologna, and the neighbourhood he calls home, on the map.
